The pump body is mostly a volute structure. The shape of the volute can smoothly guide the pulp thrown out by the impeller to the outlet of the pump, making the pulp flow more evenly in the pump body, reducing local pressure fluctuations and impacts, and reducing the wear of the pulp on the pump body.
Some pulp pumps adopt a rear-opening pump body design. This structure is convenient for repairing and replacing the impeller, shaft seal and other parts inside the pump. For example, when the impeller is worn out due to long-term operation and needs to be replaced, there is no need to disassemble the connection between the entire pump body and the inlet and outlet pipes. The impeller can be easily removed by opening the rear pump door, which greatly shortens the maintenance time and improves the maintenance efficiency of the equipment.
Shaft seal device, common shaft seals are packing seals and mechanical seals. The packing seal has a simple structure and consists of a stuffing box, packing and a packing gland. It prevents pulp leakage through close contact between the packing and the pump shaft. However, the packing seal needs to adjust the tightness of the packing regularly, and the leakage is relatively large. Mechanical seals have better sealing performance. They are composed of moving rings, stationary rings, springs and other parts. The moving rings rotate with the pump shaft, and the stationary rings are fixed on the pump body. The close fit between the two achieves a good sealing effect with very little leakage. In some papermaking processes that have strict requirements on leakage, such as when the pulp concentration is high or contains corrosive chemicals, mechanical seals can better meet production needs.
Corrosion resistance:
During the papermaking process, pulp is often chemically treated and contains acidic or alkaline substances, which requires the pulp pump to have good corrosion resistance. Some pulp pumps are made of stainless steel, such as 304 stainless steel, 316 stainless steel, etc. These stainless steel materials can resist acid and alkali corrosion in the pulp to a certain extent, ensuring the normal operation and service life of the pump. For some special pulps, such as pulp containing highly corrosive chemicals, special alloy materials can also be used or the inside of the pump body can be treated with anti-corrosion coating to meet its corrosion resistance requirements.
Cavitation performance“
The pulp pump needs to have good cavitation performance to prevent cavitation during transportation. Cavitation is a phenomenon in which the local pressure in the pump is too low, causing the liquid to vaporize and form bubbles. When the bubbles burst in the high-pressure area, the flow-through parts of the pump are impacted and damaged. The pulp pump improves the cavitation performance by reasonably designing the impeller inlet shape and increasing the inlet pressure of the pump. For example, by increasing the impeller inlet diameter and optimizing the impeller inlet flow channel, the pulp can enter the pump chamber more smoothly, reducing pressure loss and thus reducing the possibility of cavitation.
